The oldest and easiest form of the bridge is beam bridges. It has certain advantages and disadvantages over other bridge styles. All the pros and cons of the beam bridges are listed in the following section.
Advantages of Beam Bridges
There are cases where the bridge of the beam has more advantages than other bridge styles. The main advantages of beam bridges are the following:
- A mirror lies on the braces alone.
- It is easy to sustain the impact of thermal expansion and land motions.
- A beam could also be withdrawn from the ultimate location and mounted fleetly with the least traffic or navigation damage.
- Bridges with beams are easy to build.
- Beam bridges are less expensive compared to other types of bridges.
- More widely used in urban and rural areas.
Disadvantages of Beam Bridges
- Beam Bridge has powers that are much greater than the load, and it must be fairly huge.
- Beam Bridges have a small range and are not allowed to pass beneath large boats or cars.
- It is not possible to pass beneath either intense boat traffic or big vessels.
- The building of beam bridges may not be spectacular to us.
