Difference Between Clinker and Cement

Cement is not the same content as the clinker. Cement is a bonding agent used in building, whereas the main use of clinker in cement processing. The major distinctions are shown below between clinker and cement.

Sl. NoClinkerCement
1Clinker is a nodular substance used in concrete goods as a binder.Cement is a bonding factor that adheres to construction units such as blocks, bricks, tiles, and so on.
2Clinker is a granular substance that contains 3-25 mm diameter spherical pellets.Cement is a fine powdery substance that contains 150 billion grains per pound of cement.
3During the cement manufacturing process, clinker is created inside the kiln. The mix is warmed and easily cooled to produce the clinker's marble-sized pellets.Cement is developed by grinding the clinker (added to the ideal properties of cement with different active ingredients) into a fine powder.
4Typical good value clinker composition for general use: 37-72% of 3CaO.SiO2; 6-47% of 2CaO.SiO2; 2-20% of 2CaO.Al2O3; 2-19% of 4CaO. Around Al2O3.Fe2O3Most common type of cement composition: 85% clinker, 1.5-3.5% gypsum content of SO3, and up to 15% admixture.
5Clinker's main use is to manufacture concrete.Cement is used in architecture to render both cement and mortar and by connecting the building blocks to protect the network. It is also used to waterproof, cover or close holes and to create decorative patterns
