When calcium carbonate in the brick raw material is present, the kiln can create quicklime. With the aid of air, this quicklime can form hydrated lime and extend the cycle. Sufficiently large lime particle at the ground falls off a piece of brick that normally produces a circular trap. The method is named brick lime pitting.
